posted on by Andrew Osmond
The Zavvi retail website is listing an online-exclusive Steelbook edition of the film The First Slam Dunk, which is described on the site as "very limited." It will include the sports film on both 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs, and has a release date of March 10.
The film is already due to be released by Anime Limited in two other forms on the same date. There will be a Collector's Edition (already sold out on the site), which will also contain the film in 4K UHD and Blu-ray formats, as well as a standard Blu-ray edition.
Anime Limited describes the story:
"Shohoku's speedster and point guard, Ryota Miyagi, always plays with brains and lightning speed, running circles around his opponents while feigning composure. Born and raised in Okinawa, Ryota had a brother who was three years older. Following in the footsteps of his older brother, who was a famous local player from a young age, Ryota also became addicted to basketball.
"In his second year of high school, Ryota plays with the Shohoku High School basketball team along with Sakuragi, Rukawa, Akagi, and Mitsui as they take the stage at the Inter-High School National Championship. Now, they are on the brink of challenging the reigning champions, Sannoh Kogyo High School."
The film is based on the Precure Super Stars!).
Inoue published his iconic sports manga in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1990 to 1996 for a total of 31 volumes. The manga inspired a television anime in 1993, and it received four anime film sequels.
