The end of the Japanese broadcast of games will have a different version of the Mega Charizard Pokémon. Pokémon X will feature a Mega Charizard X, while Pokémon Y players will be able to see a Mega Charizard Y.

In addition, the Japanese opening sequences — the female protagonist and male protagonist versions — debuted on Wednesday.
In the games, certain Pokémon can transform through Mega Evolution during battle. The new form of Evolution changes a Pokémon's appearance and increases stats. Pokémon may also switch their Ability or type after they Mega Evolve. Pokémon that can Mega Evolve need a Mega Stone for the new process, and the transformed monsters return to their original form after a battle concludes.
Mega Stones such as Lucarionite, the item that allows Lucario to Mega Evolve, are hidden in the games' Kalos region. However, players must participate in a limited Wi-Fi distribution event through Nintendo Network to get a Torchic with Blaziken's Blazikenite Mega Stone. Blazikenite will not be available during normal gameplay. The Wi-Fi distribution period will begin on the day the games launch.
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will buy either the game pre-loaded on a SDHC card bundled with a limited-edition Nintendo 3DS XL in "Xerneas and Yveltal Blue" or (when bought at Pokémon Centers) " Gold."
