Ghibli's Goro Miyazaki: Next Work May Come Around 2013

posted on by Egan Loo
Hayao Miyazaki is already working on it

Studio Ghibli, revealed on Saturday that the next work may come around 2013. He spoke on Friday to an audience of 180 at central Japan's Matsumoto City Museum of Art, which is holding an exhibit of Studio Ghibli layout art.

Regarding the next work, Miyazaki said, "I think it'll be about two years from now. Actually, my dad [studio co-founder Hayao Miyazaki] has begun making it now. It's amazing."

The younger Miyazaki happened to have graduated from the Agriculture Department of Matsumoto City's Shinshū University. He explained his choice of college by noting that he was in the mountain-climbing club in high school and that the university was close to the mountains. He added to the laughter of the audience that one more factor clinched the deal: the university's second entrance exam did not have a math section.

Fellow Ghibli director and co-founder confirmed in September that he also has a new work that may be about two more years from being close to completion.
