Before Green Gables Prequel Animation to Anne Novels Green-Lit

The Japanese publisher Anne of Green Gables (Akage no Anne).
The original Anne of Green Gables novel is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The story is best known in Japan through the official novel translations and a classic 1979 Candy Candy). An earlier Canadian animated feature prequel named Anne: Journey to Green Gables was released in 2004, and a 2008 live-action Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning prequel television feature is in post-production.
