Lupin III Documentary Will Air on August 20 in Japan

The documentary Soshite, Lupin Sanze ga Umareta: Inochi o Fukikonda Otokotachi (And So, Lupin the 3rd Was Born: The Men Who Breathed Life Into Him) will air on BS on August 20 as part of the broadcaster's Another Stories: Unmei no Bunkiten (Another Stories: Crossroads of Fate) program. The documentary will bring together interviews with staff and cast from the long-running anime thief's career to discuss the series' popularity.

Guests include the manga's former editor Chiko Motomi, Yu Kiyozono. Original Lupin the 3rd television anime director Masaaki Osumi will appear on the program to talk about changes he was required to make to the anime to comply with the broadcast station at the time.

Lupin Hiroshi Kashiwabara will also appear on the program.

Lupin franchise has since inspired numerous television anime and films, as well as live-action works and games.

The Lupin the Third franchise's newest anime film, open in Japan on December 6.
