Arrietty Earns US$1.7 Million to Rank #9 on Friday

The Box Office Mojo website reports that The Secret World of Arrietty (Karigurashi no Arrietty) earned an estimated US$1,704,000 on its opening day in the United States. With 1,522 theaters screening it on Friday, the film release had an estimated per-screen average of US$1,120. On its first day, The Secret World of Arrietty is already the 11th highest grossing theatrical anime release in the United States.
